Gannon vows to strengthen

Jim Gannon has vowed to strengthen his Stockport County squad this summer in an attempt to mount a serious promotion bid next term.

The Hatters narrowly missed out on a play-off place this term and Gannon wants to do better next season.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "We've had some fantastic players this year, the core professionals have been excellent.

"It's been a year of progress for lots of individuals, but more importantly for the club. Now we feel we can improve next time.

"We'll be looking to go into next season with a much stronger squad.

"If we can get four or five experienced players in then we will look very strong ahead of next season."
