Gannon stands by Gleeson

Stockport County manager Jim Gannon has praised loan midfielder Stephen Gleeson for getting his season back on track after recent problems.

The 20-year-old has run into problems with parent club Wolves for his comments over his future at Molineux, being fined two weeks' wages for speaking out.

However, is happy that Gleeson has been back to his best for the Hatters in the last week or so.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "I have to give credit to Stephen. He's had a difficult month with a lot of things going on at Wolves, but he's responded brilliantly in the last two games.

"He's shown all the energy and dynamic pace and skill which made us love him. That was the reason we brought him back.

"He's been fined two weeks wages for comments he's made about the situation he's been placed in."
