Gannon positive over Ellison

Stockport County boss Jim Gannon has denied claims that Kevin Ellison has pulled out of a proposed move to Edgeley Park.

The 28-year-old former Hatter agreed to return to the club from Chester City on loan with a view to a permanent switch when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

However, stories emerged earlier in the week that Ellison was no longer interested in a return to the club.

But speaking after Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Bury, Gannon claimed those reports were wide of the mark.

"I've spoken to Kevin today and, although he's got some contractual issues to sort out at Chester, he's happy enough to come," he told the club's official website.

"I'm sure he'll be looking at our result tonight and thinking he can't wait to be a part of this journey that we're going on."

Ellison played for Stockport in 2001 and made 52 appearances.
