Gannon plans Allen talks

Stockport County boss Jim Gannon hopes to convince Damien Allen to pen a new contract at Edgeley Park.

The 20-year-old has made 57 appearances for the Hatters, but appeared to be heading out of the club when he was allowed to join Royal Antwerp on loan earlier this year.

However, he has impressed during his spell with the Belgian second division side and may now extend his stay with County.

Gannon told the Manchester Evening News: "Damien still has a future at County, if that's what he decides he wants.

"I've been speaking to his coach in Belgium, Warren Joyce, when we were both on our LMA course in Warwick last week.

"Warren speaks very highly of him, and I know myself that he's such a dedicated young professional.

"Hopefully we'll sit down and have a chat next week when he returns from Belgium."
