Gannon hails heroic Hatters

Stockport County manager Jim Gannon was in jubilant mood after his side set a new Football League record of nine wins in a row without conceding a goal.

The Hatters set the new mark in style by seeing off Swindon Town 3-0 at Edgeley Park, with loan keeper Wayne Hennessey still having yet to concede a goal since joining County from Wolves.

Gannon beamed: "It's been a fantastic achievement by the players, I'm absolutely bursting with pride.

"The lads have been unbelievable and what an emphatic win it's been to break the League record.

"It's not really sunk in yet, but what a great result it was for us too against one of our promotion rivals. I'm delighted, all the lads should be proud of themselves.

"Everybody has contributed so much. All of the players are so talented and they've been so professional. It's just amazing.

"I'm running out of superlatives to describe all of the players. They've all been outstanding and they're all heroes."
