Gannon admits to good fortune

Stockport County manager Jim Gannon was relieved to keep his side's promotion charge on track with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against relegation-threatened Mansfield Town on Wednesday.

The Hatters were forced to come from behind before picking up another three points as they moved up to fourth in the League Two table.

Gannon told County's official website: "I've been saying all week Mansfield are a good side and they've been a little bit unfortunate tonight.

"The turning point was Tommy (Rowe)'s little bit of skill on the edge of the box. He's drawn the foul, their player's sent off and we went on to get the winning goal as well.

"The lads put in a fantastic shift. They made a little bit of hard work of it and they weren't as efficient as they normally are, but they got through the game."
