County takeover agreed

A consortium led by former Manchester City forward Jim Melrose has agreed a deal to buy Stockport County.
Administrators Leonard Curtis have stated that Melrose will now begin discussions with Edgeley Park landlord Sale Sharks before a deal is finalised.
A spokesperson for the Melrose consortium said: "We look forward to developing a fruitful relationship with Sale Sharks and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council which will provide the basis for a successful future for Stockport County Football Club."
A spokesman for Leonard Curtis added: "While a deal has been agreed, it is subject to the Melrose Consortium obtaining landlord approval. This is a positive step to safeguarding the club's future."
