County suspend Elding

Stockport County have suspended Anthony Elding for seven days and are investigating a potential breach of contract by the striker.

The Hatters are looking into claims that Elding approached another club, either directly or indirectly, with a view to instigating a move.

County's managing director Mark Maguire told the club's official website: "We have to take difficult decisions as we protect our integrity and our contractual rights.

"We hope this matter is resolved as quickly as possible and we'd ask all our fans to get right behind the team in Saturday's important Cheshire derby against Chester City."

Former Boston United and Stevenage Borough striker Elding has scored 18 goals in 33 matches for Stockport since moving to Edgeley Park in January.
