Ablett pays tribute to Saints

Published: 30 Aug 2009 - 12:22:51

Rickie Lambert's penalty in first-half stoppage time - following Gianluca Havern's handball - looked like it was going to be enough to give Saints their first win of the season. But they were pegged back in the 93rd minute when Neal Trotman was adjudged to have handled in the box and Carl Baker dispatched the resulting spot-kick. Ablett said: "The referee has seen them both as handball and given the penalties. I'd rather focus on what a good side they were. They won't be in the position they're in now for long if they continue to play like that. "But all credit to our boys, they just kept going and going and going. Southampton they are a very good side. They've had some chances in the second half and if they'd taken those the game might have been beyond us. "But our boys have kept going and in my opinion, for what it's worth, we got a deserved equaliser in the 93rd minute."
