Ablett backs threadbare Hatters

Published: 09 Aug 2009 - 17:47:26

County are red-hot favourites for relegation after going into administration and losing most of their top players but they snatched an opening-day point at Boundary Park thanks to goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams. The Wales under-21 international pulled off a string of saves and Ablett said: "I am delighted with the way we have started the season. The players have had a difficult summer not really knowing what would happen at the club, but if they keep showing the same attitude and determination, we might be alright. "I won't lie, it's going to be tough. We are going to be a young side all season and maybe sometimes even our best won't be good enough. "Everyone is writing us off because of the administration and expecting us to go down. We have people to prove wrong and we will work hard to do that. "You could see how much effort the players put in and our keeper made a couple of outstanding saves when we needed him. We know this season won't be easy but we are all ready to battle together."
