Owain Fon Williams joined Crewe in 2003 after he impressed on a trial. He was attracting the interest of big Premiership clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool but decided to join Crewe instead. He played for the under 18 team as they reached the FA Youth Cup Semi Final and he has played for Wales at under 16, 18 and 19 levels and has been on standby for the under 21 team.
