Ward in Hatters rallying call

Caretaker manager Peter Ward warned Stockport must start collecting points if they are to drag themselves away from danger, stressing: "We just have to go for it". Having lost 2-1 at Cheltenham, County find themselves bottom of the Football League with 12 games remaining - four points and a healthy goal difference from safety. Wes Thomas netted the 67th-minute winner for the Robins at Whaddon Road after Aaron Brown had cancelled out Jake Thomson`s opener. And Ward said: "We've only 12 games left and we have to start picking up points. We've got nothing to lose from now, we just have to go for it and give our supporters something to cheer about. "This game revealed our deficiencies in the squad because we looked nothing like the side who did so well against Bradford last Saturday. At 1-1 we got ourselves a foothold back into the game and were looking more comfortable but we simply didn't read the clearance which led to their winning goal. "In the second half the crossing just wasn't good enough and it became more frustrating as Cheltenham sat back, drew us in and then hit us with a sucker punch."
