Ward delighted with Paterson debut

Stockport boss Peter Ward hailed the impact made by debutant Matt Paterson in a 2-1 victory over Bury which lifted the Shakers off the bottom of the npower League Two table. Goals from Paterson, signed on a month's loan from League Two rivals this week, and Antony Elding were enough to ensure that Ryan Lowe`s late goal for the Shakers was just a consolation. Ward said: "It was nice to get a win and was pleasing for the lads but much more pleasing for the fans. "We brought the striker who we've been looking to bring in for six to eight weeks and he took the pressure off Antony Elding and both of them got on the scoresheet. "Matt Paterson had a real influence on the game. The two strikers had a great influence on each other and the rest of the team. "It was a bit scary with conceding the goal near the end but we held out."
