Stalemate at Stockport

Stockport and Wycombe were out of luck as they produced an entertaining goalless draw at Edgeley Park. The Hatters came agonisingly close to a dream start after nine minutes when left-back Robbie Williams' deflected in a 20-yard free-kick struck the base of the post. Lewis Montrose had a shot saved for Wycombe and after half an hour Ben Strevens charged down a clearance from County goalkeeper Owain fon Williams, only for the ball to fly over the crossbar. Just before the interval Kevin Betsy glanced a header narrowly wide for the visitors as both sides continued to create chances. Stockport were on top for the majority of the second half, starting early on as George Donnelly was denied by a brave stop from Nikki Bull. David Poole volleyed over from close range, then debutant and substitute Jamie Proctor was denied again by Bull. At the other end Fon Williams saved Gareth Ainsworth's header from point-blank range.
