Simpson praises County effort

Stockport manager Paul Simpson praised his side's work ethic after the goalless draw at Lincoln. In a game of few chances, Ben Hutchinson came closest to opening the scoring for the Imps but Stockport keeper Matt Glennon saved well from point blank range. Glennon's opposite number Joe Anyon thwarted County's George Donnelly in injury time to ensure honours finished even. "I was delighted with the attitude of the players. We were up against a team with a new manager (Steve Tilson) and we were expecting a backlash. The big thing was that we didn't lose. Simpson expressed concern that defender Danny Swailes could be seriously injured after he limped out of the action with a suspected knee ligament injury with half an hour gone. "The injury to Danny Swailes was a nasty one," he said. "We don't know how bad the injury is at the moment and there is a possibility it could be his cruciate which would mean he is out for eight or nine months. He was in a lot of pain and said he heard something snap."
