Simpson planning Hatters recovery

New Stockport manager Paul Simpson has pledged to get the club back on its feet after replacing Gary Ablett at Edgeley Park. Simpson, who was sacked as Shrewsbury manager at the end of last season, is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead and is aiming to give everybody at the club a clean slate. The Hatters, who were relegated from League One last term, were recently saved from extinction by a takeover from the 2015 Group consortium and Simpson believes it all bodes well for a bright future. "The challenge that's here is something that I really wanted to get stuck into and I think everybody's looking now and it's a bit of a clean slate," said Simpson. "We're starting all over again with a new chairman, a new board of directors, administrators have now left the building and we now need to get a football club back onto its feet again. "I think everybody who has followed what's been going on at Stockport for the last year to 18 months will know that the club was on its belly, it was close to going out of business. "The chairman, the directors, everybody who has worked hard to get it onto its knees, we want to get it back on its feet now and get it up and running, get it working to make sure that every supporter that has stopped coming to watch Stockport County gets off their backsides and comes back and supports us and helps the club go forward."
