Simpson livid with Jake red

Stockport boss Paul Simpson was furious with the decision to send off his son Jake after just eight minutes of the 5-0 hammering to Morecambe. Simpson was dismissed after he handballed on the line and the Shrimps capitalised on the red card as goals from Jim Bentley and Scott Brown added to Phil Jevons' hat-trick to earn them the three points. "It was a major decision and the lads were furious; Jake said it hit him in the chest and I don't think the referee could have had a clear view of it at all," Simpson said. Simpson was also quick to criticise his players, insisting they let themselves down. "Having said that we didn't help ourselves and some of the players just didn't do as they were told. We conceded two really soft goals from set pieces when players just ignored what they were told before the game" he added. "We gave them instructions and they just didn't listen and decided to do their own thing. When they did what they were told in the second half we never looked like letting a goal in from a set piece and that is another lesson the players must learn."
