Simpson issues rallying cry

Stockport boss Paul Simpson has urged his players to roll up their sleeves and prepare to battle after admitting there is no cash to strengthen his squad. County were down to the bare bones for Saturday's trip to Stevenage as they crashed to a 3-1 defeat. Simpson's pre-match plans were thrown into chaos by a string of injuries as well as a virus in the camp, but he conceded there are no funds to bring in new faces. "We were down to the bare bones, we only had 18 players available, " said Simpson. "Jamie Vincent got injured in the warm-up, Jordan Rose and Robbie Williams were both injured and Andy Halls wasn't able to travel because he's had a family illness. "But we have to work with what we've got because there isn't any money in the pot to bring anyone else in and we're going to have to roll our sleeves up and ride a real tough time."
