Paul Simpson admits he was hurt by his sacking as Stockport manager but revealed his determination to return to the game. The former Carlisle, Preston and Shrewsbury boss was relieved of his duties at Edgeley Park with immediate effect on Tuesday. County sit 21st in the npower League Two table, just four points above the relegation zone, following a run of just three wins in 19 games. Simpson told Sky Sports News: "When you have been in football a long time, nothing every takes you by surprise. It's part and parcel of football management but it still hurts when it happens to you. "It's a wonderful profession to be in but you have to take it on the chin that people are going to make a decision to remove you from that job before you've even had an opportunity to get your feet under the table. "I've invested a lot of time and effort to get my Pro Licence coaching qualification and I've done an honours degree in sport science, which took five years. I've managed over 300 years, so I feel as if I've got a lot to offer football, whether it be at youth-team or first-team level."
