Simpson happy with friendly showing

Stockport boss Paul Simpson was delighted after his side thumped Northwich 5-0 in their opening pre-season friendly. Simpson fielded two different sides either side of half-time and County coasted to victory with goals from Danny Swailes, David Poole, Greg Tansey, an unnamed trialist and Ritchie Partridge. Simpson handed opportunities to a number of trialists and said: "Obviously we are taking a good look at them and there is no point in raising other club's awareness should we wish to take the players on. "Both groups of players were impressive, showing good movement, passing and fitness over each 45 minutes." Meanwhile, Stockport have appointed Dave Timmins as their goalkeeping coach.
