Simpson hails battling Hatters

Stockport manager Paul Simpson lauded his players after watching them secure a replay against League One high-fliers Peterborough. Robbie Williams fired the Hatters into a 20th-minute lead, before Aaron Mclean levelled things up eight minutes later. County, who went into the game on the back of consecutive 5-0 defeats, were clinging on for the remainder of the game, but they secured a replay, much to Simpson's delight. "We got to a point before last Saturday's game where I was able to start praising players, but maybe I won't do so in future after the two 5-0 defeats," he said. "If we get a response like we did against a high-flying League One team like Peterborough United I'll have a go at them again. "If we keep that spirit and keep that level of work we should be okay. I thought Paul Turnbull was excellent and I thought Anthony Pulis put in a different type of performance. He kept things simple and he kept things ticking along."
