Simpson fumes at lack of fight

Stockport manager Paul Simpson felt his side lacked fight after their humiliating 5-0 home defeat by Port Vale and is demanding an improvement at Northampton next time out. The away side were 1-0 up before Mansour Assoumani`s sending-off for County meant there was only going to be one winner, Vale taking advantage of weak Stockport resistance. Simpson said: "We showed the poor character that we've shown far too often this season. ` "We were weak, certainly not strong enough mentally, and if we carry on with that type of mentality we had better get prepared for a few more hidings like we've had here. "We absolutely got what we deserved and that was nothing. We were poor in all areas of the pitch and that's frustrating. "We started the game promisingly enough. We started brightly and I think we had five corners in that early period. But after that early spell we didn't get to the second balls and in the end they've ran away with it."
