Simpson eyeing additions

Stockport manager Paul Simpson is keen to strengthen his squad with the acquisition of a striker and a midfielder. The loan window opened on Tuesday and, with Gianluca Havern, Richie Partridge and Sam Hare all shown the door at Edgeley Park, Simpson insists there is money available to bring in the two players he feels he needs. "I'm still looking to bring players in," Simpson told the Stockport Express. "Before the transfer window shut I was close to bringing in a Premier League striker and a central midfielder, but in the end the striker went abroad and the midfielder went to an SPL side which was disappointing. "But the supporters don't want to know who we were close to getting, they want to know who is coming. "We can bring players in on loan now and I'm still looking for a striker to give us more options up front. I also think we need a strong, combative midfielder and someone who is going to be a leader for us."
