Simpson calls for fan backing

Stockport boss Paul Simpson has urged fans to turn out in force against Shrewsbury as they bid to kickstart their campaign with a victory. After two draws and two defeats, Simpson is determined to get County's season up and running with three points against his former club. He has pleaded with supporters to turn up in their numbers and give his players a much-needed boost at Edgeley Park. "Having a big crowd behind you makes a massive difference," Simpson told the Manchester Evening News. "The support so far this season has been tremendous. They've followed us away and stuck with us at home. "We know we've got to show the fans that it's worth their while to come down and support us, but if we could get a few more through the turnstiles it would make a big difference to the players."
