Stockport boss Paul Simpson will be without defender Jordan Rose for the visit of Preston in the Carling Cup first round. The summer signing was injured in training last week and faces up to a month on the sidelines but Simpson has no other major concerns. County began their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Southend on Saturday and now face the club that Simpson managed between June 2006 and November 2007. The former North End boss believes Stockport are on the right track after a tumultuous campaign last season which saw them relegated and racked by financial worries. After County side were denied victory by a late Southend equaliser, Simpson said: "I can't fault the way the players have gone about things."
