Mathias salutes County

Stockport manager Ray Mathias praised his side's mentality despite watching County's relegation virtually confirmed after a 2-2 draw with Northampton. Guillem Bauza opened the scoring for the Cobblers before Paul Rodgers fired into his own net to level matters. Shaun Harrad looked to have won the game from the penalty spot after Andy Halls brought down Bauza in the area, but Greg Tansey's 30-yard drive in the 88th minute earned a point for County. Mathias said: "Over the course of the games I have been in charge the mentality of the players has changed - they've suddenly become winners. "To go 1-0 down and come back, then 2-1 down and keep on coming back and then in the end we could possibly have won the game. With the amount of play we had we probably deserved to win the game quite comfortably. "I've not gone in and slaughtered them but little mistakes in defence have cost us through the season. The fans were fantastic, encouraged the players and the reception at the end despite the relegation was overwhelming."
