Mathias joins Hatters staff
Stockport have appointed Ray Mathias as a technical advisor to boss Peter Ward as they bid avoid relegation from the Football League.
County are rock-bottom of npower League Two and believe Mathias's vast experience, which includes spells at Wigan, Tranmere, Macclesfield and Blackburn, can aid their plight.
A statement said: "Having looked through all the applications recently received, the directors feel that the club are very fortunate to be in a position to have a person with Ray's experience available to help us in our fight to retain our Football League status."
Mathias had been scouting on a part-time basis for Leeds.
