Mathias holds on to Hatters hopes
Stockport boss Ray Mathias believes his side can still defy the odds and beat the drop ahead of Saturday's trip to high-flying Shrewsbury.
County lie five points adrift at the bottom of the table and have just five matches to save themselves from relegation.
Yet Mathias took heart from his side's battling 2-2 draw with Stevenage last weekend and believes that a little luck could see them survive.
Mathias said: "Hopefully we will have a little bit of luck this weekend against Shrewsbury.
"We'll be going there fighting - like we did against Stevenage - and hopefully we can get a result.
"Who knows in these last five games? We just need a little bit of luck."
