The troubled League One outfit went into administration at the end of April with crippling debts, but hope to be taken over by the Melrose consortium shortly. And they will receive £15,000 for winning the PFA-sponsored Bobby Moore Fair Play Trophy. "This award is presented to the team with the best disciplinary record throughout the Premier League and the three divisions of the Football League," said PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor. "We will be pleased to make a donation of £7,500 for the benefit of the players, management and coaching staff and £7,500 for the benefit of the club's community programme together with a presentation of a trophy. "We are delighted to announce this award, especially as the club has been going through a difficult period - and much of the credit for Stockport's disciplinary record goes to Jim Gannon who, sadly, lost his job recently."
