Defeat hard to swallow for Simpson

Stockport manager Paul Simpson was left disappointed with the manner of his side`s 2-1 defeat at Burton. The Hatters, unbeaten in five going into the encounter, snatched the lead with a breakaway goal in the 19th minute when a flat-footed Albion defence allowed Paul Turnbull to head home a Jake Simpson cross from 12 yards. But Albion never gave up and hit the woodwork twice in the first half before Aaron Webster`s second-half double, both headers from well-worked corner routines, sealed the turnaround. Simpson said: "The first half worked exactly how we wanted it to. We got into good areas, but unfortunately we had only one goal to show for all our good play. "I thought they were struggling, they were starting to go under a little bit and starting to get tired. But if you give any team a lift at any level, they'll take it. We shot ourselves in the foot really, which is disappointing because over the month of September we've shown real determination and character. "That doesn't just go out of the window because we've still got the points on the board that we earned. But it's disappointing that we've ended a very, very good unbeaten run in the way that we have."
