Connolly has worked at a senior level in the Irish Department of Finance and is a previous General Secretary of the Irish FA who worked with County boss Jim Gannon at Dundalk. Stockport faced going into administration last week until Stockport MP Ann Coffey managed to negotiate a stay of execution for the cash-strapped club over its massive bill owing to the Inland Revenue. And Connolly said: "Stockport County needs off-field management to match that of Jim Gannon on the playing field. "I think my experience in business and my knowledge of government agencies will help."
