Bury 0-1 Stockport: Report

14 November 2010 00:12
Shakers left all shook up by Hatters Stockport stunned high-flying hosts Bury thanks to an early strike from Wes Fletcher which clinched a 1-0 victory at Gigg Lane. The visitors had the better of the first half in the Greater Manchester derby, Adam Griffin curling an early shot narrowly wide. County went in front after 15 minutes when Anthony Pulis crossed for on-loan Fletcher and he buried his shot low into the corner from 12 yards. At the other end Ryan Lowe saw a snapshot well saved by Matt Glennon before skipper Steven Schumacher fired over from outside the box. Nicky Ajose then came close to levelling when he forced another fine save from Glennon. After the restart Glennon was agile in thwarting Lowe, while Stockport went close as Fletcher hit a shot into the side-netting. Stockport midfielder Paul Turnbull was called upon to clear Mike Jones' header off the line, but the visitors almost made it two late on. George Donnelly crossed for sub Jake Simpson but his header struck the crossbar.
