Bulls crush Hatters

Hereford moved off the bottom of the Football League with an emphatic 5-0 victory at Stockport. The Bulls took the lead when on-loan Oldham striker Rob Purdie took advantage of a dreadful mix-up in the Stockport defence to drive home a low shot via the legs of goalkeeper Matt Glennon after nine minutes. Just three minutes later he was on hand again as Glennon parried Kenny Lunt's shot straight into his path to mark a dream return to his former club. Despite the efforts of leading scorer George Donnelly, who forced a fine save from Adam Bartlett in the first half, the Hatters' attack was blunted by a solid Bulls defence. In fact, it was Hereford who looked more likely to score and their lead was increased seven minutes after the break when Mathieu Manset beat the offside trap to chip over Glennon. Substitute Stuart Fleetwood added a fourth four minutes from time and Stockport's misery was complete three minutes later when Glennon allowed the ball to come off his body and into his own net.
