Boss to keep Hatters grounded

Stockport manager Paul Simpson has warned his side not to get carried away after their vital 3-1 win at relegation rivals Barnet. George Donnelly put the Hatters ahead six minutes after the break, only for Izale McLeod to level for the hosts. But Simpson`s men were not to be denied and Greg Tansey`s six-minute double, the second from the penalty spot, earned them the points. "I went into the game confident. The players have applied themselves really well in recent weeks and I have been delighted with the way they have trained and their attitude," Simpson said. "They have kept their focus on what we needed to do. "I think though if we are honest we should have been two down after the first five minutes but after that I thought we were fantastic for the rest of the first half. "But this is only one game and the big thing is we need to keep our feet on the ground. I am pleased with how we have gone about our business and stuck together but we have to carry it on. "We wanted that result against Barnet to go into the new year and give ourselves a chance and that has given us a big boost and hopefully we can carry on that sort of form."
