Assoumani looking ahead

New Stockport recruit Mansour Assoumani believes the future is bright at Edgeley Park after he became the club's fifth summer signing. The 27-year-old Frenchman has impressed alongside Danny Swailes during pre-season matches and persuaded County boss Paul Simpson to hand him a deal. The former Montpellier, Leeds and Wrexham man told the club's official website: "I am very happy to sign for Stockport County and I believe we will become a strong unit together." Simpson's men kick off their npower League Two campaign at Southend on Saturday but Assoumani is already relishing their first home clash against Wycombe on August 14. He added: "I am looking forward to playing in the opening game at Southend, but more than that I want to play at Edgeley Park in front of our home fans. It is a really exciting time for all of us."
