Falkirk suffered a Betfred Cup shock at Stirling after going down 1-0 to their Ladbrokes League Two neighbours.

Darren Smith netted the only goal three minutes before the break when he converted an Eddie Ferns delivery at the second attempt, and was denied a second by a good stop from Danny Rogers just after the interval.

Albion survived a series of chances for the Bairns with Bob McHugh, Lee Miller, Craig Sibbald, Luke Leahy and Nathan Austin all coming close.

David Clarkson hit a brilliant double as St Mirren claimed a 3-2 victory at Livingston.

Clarkson linked up with former Motherwell team-mate John Sutton before volleying home from long range in the 13th minute.

Livi turned the game on its head after the interval when summer signings Nicky Cadden and Dale Carrick both netted but Lewis Morgan burst into the box and dinked an equaliser.

And Clarkson won it with another strike from distance with eight minutes left, although St Mirren's joy was tempered by a late injury to Rocco Quinn, who was stretchered off.

First-half goals from Jake Pickard and Andy Dowie sent Queen of the South top of Group E as they beat Queen's Park 2-0 at Airdrie.

Pickard netted from close range in the 29th minute and Dowie headed home five minutes later. There were six bookings after the interval but no more goals.

Morton claimed a bonus point with a 4-3 shootout win over Albion Rovers following a goalless draw at Cliftonhill, while Forfar won 5-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2 with Dumbarton.

Stranraer joined Rangers on three points in Group F with a 2-1 win at Annan, second-half goals from Christian Nade and Frank McKeown putting them in control.
