Trouten wins it for City

Brechin clinched their first win in three league games as Alan Trouten's second-half penalty kept Stirling rooted to the bottom.

Stirling have yet to win at home in the league this season but looked set for a valauble point until defender Ross McGeachie brought down midfielder Trouten in the box in the 61st minute.

Trouten stepped up to convert the only goal of the game with an emphatic right-footed spot-kick to get Brechin back to winning ways following two successive 1-1 draws.

Stirling were not without chances as Alex Cunningham, Lewis Coult and Gordon Smith all went close to breaking the first-half deadlock, the latter's header superbly tipped over by Brechin goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

But the visitors weathered the storm and Colin Hamilton's header forced home goalkeeper Greg Paterson into a fine save.

Trouten's penalty proved decisive as both defences got on top to ensure there were no further goalscoring chances.
