Morton sends Airdrieonians through
Jordan Morton's first-half strike handed Airdrieonians a 1-0 win over Stirling in the first round of the Scottish League Cup.
Willie Robertson nearly gave Stirling a ninth-minute lead when his curled effort went close while Bryan Prunty and Morton had good chances to score for the visitors.
Airdrieonians' Taylor Morgan was denied as his header was brilliantly saved by Stirling stopper Chris Smith but Morton eventually put the Binos ahead when he found space on the left-hand side of the box to fire across goal and into the bottom corner in the 41st minute.
Sean Dickson sent Stirling's best opportunity over the bar and substitute Salim Kouider-Aisser missed a great chance to level in stoppage time as he failed to hit the target.
