Binos bash Hedgemen's hopes

Bottom side Stirling dented Brechin's play-off hopes with a shock 3-1 win at Glebe Park.

The visitors took the lead three minutes before the interval when Alan Cook produced a fine long-range drive to beat Craig Nelson.

Mark Ferry doubled the advantage two minutes later to ensure the Binos held a strong position at half-time.

Victory was all but ensured just after the hour mark when Gary Thom rose highest to head home Cook's cross.

But the Hedgemen responded immediately, Paul McManus on hand to fire home David Crawford's cross after a quick break from the restart.

David Crawford came close to reducing the deficit further with 10 minutes remaining, but Sean Fagan threw himself in the way of a stinging effort.

The hosts, driven on by Crawford, continued to press, this time denied by a save from Callum Reidford as they held out for all three points.
