Westley lauds Byron's striking masterclass
Stevenage manager Graham Westley was pleased with the performance of Byron Harrison but disappointed his side couldn't collect all three points after the 2-2 draw with Gillingham.
Harrison, who was cup-tied for the FA Cup clash with Reading, returned to the side to net the opener and the equaliser for Stevenage after goals from Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa had put Gillingham 2-1 ahead.
Westley said: "I'm delighted for Byron to have come back into the side and make such an impact. He's showed just how dangerous he can be in opposition boxes.
"We probably ought to have gone on and won the game though. We created more than enough chances, particularly towards the end there. Their keeper made a number of good saves - it just wouldn't go in for us.
"We had to come back down to earth a little after our recent cup exploits, but the hunger was definitely there right through the team. Gillingham have been in great form of late, so to take a point is no mean feat really.
"It's just that we had the momentum in the closing stages and I thought we were going to nick one. I don't think many people could have complained too much if we had gone on to claim the three points."
