Stevenage may welcome Joel Byrom back to the squad following a four-month injury lay-off when they host Oxford on Boxing Day. The midfielder returned to full training last week after recovering from first, a problem to one of his eyes, then a foot injury. Byrom is now running pain-free and although he is unlikely to start due to a lack of match fitness, the 24-year-old may claim a place on the bench. Josh Walker is not available after the midfielder was recalled early by parent club Watford. Darius Charles will be suspended for the clash after he received a straight red card for a rash challenge in Boro's 1-0 defeat to Northampton - just six minutes after he come on the field as a half-time substitute. Midfielder Darren Murphy and striker Lee Boylan are suffering from ankle and calf injuries respectively and are not expected to be back until the new year.
