Smith's double boost

Luke Freeman and Filipe Morais have recovered from injury and are back in contention to give Stevenage boss Gary Smith a boost ahead of the visit of npower League One leaders Tranmere.

Portuguese midfielder Filipe Morais is also available again following his one-match suspension for collecting his fifth booking of the season.

Smith has urged his team to play with an added aggression against the Merseysiders and wants to see an improvement in Boro's performances at the Lamex.

"We all want to be more aggressive at home, we want to score more goals and want to put on good displays for our home fans but it doesn't always come out that way as we have seen with many teams in this league," he told the club's official website.

"Teams away from home look more relaxed as there is less pressure and can play a more counter attacking game which may suit their style."

Tranmere are without the suspended Ash Taylor for the trip.

The defender picked up his fifth booking of the campaign during the club's goalless draw with Walsall in midweek and sits out a one-match ban.

Michael Kay will battle with new loan signing Donervorn Daniels to partner Ben Gibson in the centre of the defence.

Other deadline day loanee Michael O'Halloran could be handed a debut in attack.

James Wallace has recovered from illness and is expected to return to the midfield, though were he to pick up a yellow card he would be ruled out of next weekend's FA Cup clash with Chesterfield.

Paul Black returned from his calf injury to play 21 minutes from the bench on Tuesday and is likely to be named among the substitutes once again.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro is still sidelined with a broken metatarsal.
