Stevenage midfielder Tom Conlon to miss EFL Cup visit of Stoke with knee injury

Stevenage midfielder Tom Conlon will miss out against Stoke in the EFL Cup.

Conlon, a former member of Stoke's academy, went off injured at the weekend with a knee injury and will undergo a scan and see a specialist to determine the full extent of the problem.

The likes of Andrew Fox, Rowan Liburd, Tom Pett, Ben Kennedy and Dale Gorman all began on the bench against Luton on Saturday and will hope to force their way into Boro boss Darren Sarll's plans against the Premier League team.

Midfielder Steven Schumacher will definitely be absent due to the anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained last season.

It looks like Stoke will take an unchanged squad from the one which lost 4-1 at Manchester City to Broadhall Way.

However, there are expected to be several changes to the starting line up.

The likes of Marc Muniesa, Geoff Cameron, Charlie Adam, Jonathan Walters and Peter Crouch, all of whom began on the bench against Manchester City at the weekend, are likely to be more involved.

It is hoped Swiss playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri (ankle) might be fit for the Premier League trip to Everton but Jack Butland (ankle), Glen Johnson (quadriceps), Stephen Ireland (broken leg) and Ibrahim Afellay (knee) remain out.
