Stevenage edge feisty clash

Ten-man Stevenage hung on to beat Burton 2-1 in an ill-tempered clash at Broadhall Way. Second-half substitute Luke Foster was sent off in the 70th minute following a lunge on Shaun Harrad, but the hosts just about deserved to take the victory. After just eight minutes the hosts then fluffed a great chance to go ahead when they had a penalty saved. Ryan Austin upended Chris Holroyd in the box but after Holroyd dusted himself off, he hit a disappointing spot-kick straight at Burton goalkeeper Adam Legzdins. Stevenage were not to be denied in the 34th minute though. This time early Burton substitute Kevin Grocott tripped Lawrie Wilson and Scott Laird stepped up to slot his penalty coolly past Legzdins. Burton grabbed an equaliser three minutes into the second half when Lewis Young touched the ball to Aaron Webster and he fired low into the corner from just inside the box. Ten minutes later the hosts went back in front and grabbed what proved to be the winner when Wilson played in Holroyd and he comfortably beat Legzdins from 15 yards.
