Boro and Blades draw blanks

Aidy White and Jose Baxter both hit the woodwork for Sheffield United as the Blades drew 0-0 with fellow strugglers Stevenage.

With the help of strong winds that affected the game throughout, White saw his cross-turned-shot from the edge of the area helped onto the post by Boro goalkeeper Chris Day.

Then three minutes after the break, Baxter also saw his powerful 12-yard effort cannon back off the top of the post.

The visitors dominated the game, and Day made good saves to keep out Neill Collins' header and White's swerving free-kick.

Baxter should have also done better after 67 minutes after getting away from Jon Ashton but he failed to get his effort on target.

Stevenage, who have not won a league game at the Lamex Stadium since October 26, came closest when Sheffield-born striker Jordan Burrow fired narrowly wide after good play from Francois Zoko.

Dean Parrett also dragged his low shot wide after good play by former Arsenal man Luke Freeman, and substitute James Dunne's attempted 25-yard lob went just over the crossbar.
