Shrimpers snatch share of spoils

Substitute Barry Corr rescued a point for Southend with a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Stevenage. Corr latched onto Sean Clohessy's pass before scoring from close range to cancel out Stacy Long`s opening goal. Borough bossed the first half, creating almost all of the chances. Glenn Morris got down well to save Peter Winn`s shot after eight minutes before Michael Bostwick sent an effort just wide soon afterwards. Stevenage went in front after 26 minutes when Bostwick set up Long and he finished from close range. Only a fine save from Morris denied Long a second goal just before the break. Southend substitute Blair Sturrock looked lively and twice went close late on either side of Corr`s equaliser. The visitors were reduced to 10 men a minute from the end when Peter Gilbert lunged in on Jon Ashton.
