Burton Albion 0-2 Stevenage: Report

22 March 2011 21:59
Mousinho brace has Boro flying John Mousinho scored early and late to fire Stevenage into the play-off places with a 2-0 win at Burton - their fourth successive victory. Stevenage made a flying start as Mousinho put them in front with his fifth goal of the campaign in the fourth minute. Burton were guilty of sloppy defending and were suitably punished when the midfielder received Craig Reid's pass and crashed a 15-yard shot in off the underside of the crossbar. The home side could have fallen further behind in the 20th minute but Andy Corbett made a goalline clearance after keeper Adam Legzdins had taken the pace off a Darius Charles shot. Fourth official Wayne Porter took over from injured referee Rob Shoebridge for the second half. Burton made their first chance in the 55th minute but Adam Bolder's shot bounced away off the legs of goalkeeper Chris Day. Day also had to push a John McGrath shot round the post as the home side looked much more threatening than in the first period. Stevenage sealed their victory three minutes from the end when Mousinho scored from the penalty spot after substitute Darren Murphy had been upended by McGrath.
