Honours even at Ochilview

Play-off chasing Stenhousemuir were made to settle for a point after their clash with Alloa at Ochilview Park ended in a 1-1 draw.

The visitors were searching for their fourth consecutive away win and made the best possible start when Ryan McCord opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Scot Buist upended Calum Elliot in the 22nd minute.

Martin Grehan almost extended the Wasps' advantage eight minutes later but his 25-yard effort was parried around the post by Callum Reidford.

The home side started the second half brightly and were close to getting back on level terms in the 49th minute when John Gemmell drew a reflex save from Scott Bain from close range with a right-footed effort.

Gemmell was denied by Bain once more after 68 minutes as the 21-year-old goalkeeper kept out the in-form midfielder's header.

Martyn Corrigan's men finally found the goal they deserved just a minute later when Darren Smith swept home Jamie Reid's assist.
