Ross Caldwell strike enough for Ayr to beat Stenhousemuir
Ross Caldwell scored the only goal as Ayr beat 10-man Stenhousemuir to maintain the pressure on Dunfermline at the top of Scottish League One.
It took nine minutes for Caldwell to net his fourth goal of the season, curling a right-footed strike into the bottom left-hand corner of Jamie Barclay's goal.
Barclay then kept out Nicky Devlin and Brian Gilmour in quick succession as Ayr pushed for a second before the break.
Colin McMenamin spurned a golden opportunity to equalise for Stenhousemuir from the penalty spot on the hour mark and a frustrating afternoon for the hosts was capped off a minute from time when Jon Robertson was sent off for violent conduct.
