Belgian Pro League - Team of Week 2
Eiji Kawashima (Standard Liege)
Kept out a penalty, and ensured Standard’s victory in the closing stages of the game with several important saves.
Fabrice N’Sakala (Anderlecht)
Out of position on the right-back, but played there just as well – if not better – than on the left side.
Provided ample defensive support, especially in the final minutes of the match, blocking a crucial shot.
Alexander Scholz (Lokeren)
Lokeren’s young defender earned his spurs in the defence, showing confidence and a good positional game, more than once keeping Zulte’s Trajkovski from scoring.
Milos Kosanovic (Mechelen)
Scored the penalty against Ghent in the first half, and kept Ghent from scoring several times in the second half. Mechelen’s best man in the back.
Jelle Van Damme (Standard Liege)
Standard’s rock in the defence, cleaning up any mistake. Kept the team on their toes after both equalizers, and motivated them to the very end.
Geoffrey Mujangi Bia (Standard Liege)
Gave the assist for the 2-1 lead early in the second half, and scored the match-winning penalty in the last minute.
Dennis Praet (Anderlecht)
More confident in his role as Anderlecht’s midfield metronome than last week, Praet dictated the pace of the game. Gave the decisive pass to striker Mitrovic.
Sven Kums (Ghent)
Quality in midfield, Ghent’s Sven Kums kept his side upright in the first half, and led the home-team’s resurrection in the second half with accurate and creative passing. Nearly scored from a free kick, hitting the bar.
Yaya Soumahoro (Ghent)
